I would go to the library to work on my studies while taking online courses. I love to read & learn something new. Books help me wind down at the end of the day.

Good luck in Beijing 2022!
Collin Cameron - Para Cross Country Skiing & Biathlon
PyeongChang 2018 - 3 bronze medals
Libraries have always been a place where I can go to explore new adventures and find inspiration.

Dave Rees - Cross Country Skiing
Grenoble 1968
As a young lad, I loved to walk to our town library to consume the youth Sci Fi collection where I learned of the bat creatures that lived on Venus… I was hooked on books! Now I read for pleasure and on extended road trips, the use of the Canmore Library collection of talking books. They make the 7,500 km return trip to Ontario bearable! THANK YOU Canmore Library for making our lives so interesting…

Good luck in Beijing 2022!
Emma Lunder - Biathlon
PyeongChang 2018
Since I was young, libraries have played a huge role in my life - I would check out as many books as I was allowed, and read them ASAP. Even now, when I'm in Europe racing on the biathlon WC circuit, I can never fit enough books in my suitcase. And although I much prefer the feel of a book, I also travel with my trusty Kobo.

Heidi Widmer - Cross Country Skiing
Sochi 2014
Thomas King said, “the truth about stories is, that's all we really are.” Both written and lived stories inspired me to dream my Olympic dream and show up each day. Libraries continue to be a place where I share, borrow, and connect with community stories.

Macx Davies - Biathlon
PyeongChang 2018
Libraries allowed me to continue my education while training and competing internationally. They provided a safe and quiet place to study and write exams. Since finishing competing, I have enjoyed the vast materials and formats available from libraries.

Meg Ohsada - Figure Skating
PyeongChang 2013
Kazan, Russia 2023
I was very proud of skating for Canada in 2013 as a Special Olympic athlete. I am very excited to represent Canada again at Kazan, Russia in January 2023!

Rosanna Crawford - Biathlon
Vancouver 2010
Sochi 2014
PyeongChang 2018
Books helped me to find an escape from racing while on the road all winter long!

Sara Renner - Cross Country Skiing
Nagano 1998
Salt Lake City 2002
Turin 2006 - Silver medal
Vancouver 2010
I lived out of a suitcase during my ski racing life. I would escape to other worlds in my stack of books from the Canmore Library. It made for heavy bags and big fines on my return. As a mother, the library is a place to share the joy of reading with my kids.

Thomas Grandi - Alpine Skiing
Lillehammer 1994
Nagano 1998
Salt Lake City 2002
Turin 2006
I was not a big reader as a kid but My kids have inspired my love of reading. The library is an incredible refuge of quiet, it’s an oasis in our town which can sometimes be a little crazy.
