Only holds on items in the Canmore Library can be filled at this time. Watch our video How to place a request to make sure you are placing a hold on a Canmore item, otherwise your request will not be filled. Alternately, you can email or call us for assistance at 403-678-2468 Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
1. Place a Request. You can request up to 5 items at a time.
To search for items that are currently available to borrow from the Canmore Public Library:
Click here or go to The Regional Automation Consortium public access catalogue (TRACpac) at tracpac.ab.ca and login to your account.

Once you have located an item in the catalogue, click on the ‘Where is it?’ tab which is displayed on the righthand side of the item; a pop-up window will appear showing the status of the item. If the item is listed as being ‘in’, it is available to borrow.
Click on ‘place request’ and then ‘submit request’ confirming your request has been made.
You can continue searching for the next item, manage your hold requests, or log out.
2. Wait for notification that your items are ready.
You will receive notification by email, text, or phone (as per your Library account) that your hold requests are available for pickup. After you receive your notification, you must book an appointment to pick up your library material (see below).
3. Go online & schedule a pickup appointment (please wait until you have received notification that your holds are ready).
Attend the Library during the 2-hour time period on your selected date to pick up your library items.
Please follow the Library signage, ensure you maintain proper social distancing (2 metres) and have your library card/photo ID ready.

Patrons can borrow up to five items at a time from our in-house collection. Please note it currently is not possible to bring items in from other libraries.
Loan periods will be set to three weeks and can be returned to the Library in our external book drop. We encourage you to return items early if you are finished with them. All items returned are quarantined before being checked in and will therefore remain on your account a minimum of 96 hours after being deposited in the book drop.

The Canmore Public Library can not guarantee the sanitization of library items. Please handle them with caution & take the necessary precautions to minimize your risk.
The COVID-19 virus can survive up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel. All items are quarantined for at least 96 hours upon return. However, as books cannot be effectively cleaned and disinfected, it may be wise to store books for a minimum of 24 hours before use.
Patrons are advised to wash hands before and after handling library books and other items, avoid touching their face while reading and to avoid sneezing or coughing onto the page while reading.
Patrons who are immune compromised or in a high-risk category for COVID-19 infection are advised not to use or take out items from the library.
